The Hill Group Saves $5.3 Million In Energy Costs
CHICAGO, Aug. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Who says "Green" investments are not good for business? Not customers of The Hill Group who recently surpassed the $5,300,000 mark in utility costs saved for its customers. The significant savings is the direct result of improvements to buildings' mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and leveraging $5,600,000 in incentives to help offset upfront costs. The benefit story continues into the social and environmental fabric of the local communities where the work was completed.
Many financial administrators overlook investments in their building's infrastructure thinking of improvements as more of a burden. Customers of The Hill Group would argue otherwise. "I think our energy cost savings in the first year was about 20% reduction in cost, because we're actually putting the building to sleep at the end of the day and waking it up in the morning," said Ralph Grieco, Head of Facilities – Morton Arboretum.
Successful energy efficiency projects require good synergy between the building staff and installing contractor. "Hill executed our energy savings project (one of many) in a coordinated, professional manner. We are very pleased with the results – over $165,000 in annual savings and a reduction in carbon emissions equal to 252 cars. The Hill Team also diligently pursued $117,000 in rebates and grants for DePaul," said Robert Janis, VP Facility Operations - DePaul University.
