The iaedp Foundation Unveils Schedule for Internationally Renowned Symposium
Features 39 Different Sessions in Three Days by Top Eating Disorder Professionals
PEKIN, Ill., Jan. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) has released the 2015 program lineup for its 30th annual Symposium in Phoenix, featuring 39 sessions that address the latest in eating disorder treatment, causes and science. The Symposium will take place during March 18 - 22 and will feature two keynote speakers and a first-time keynote panel discussion based on actual case studies from multidisciplinary viewpoints of highly experienced professionals.
Pre-symposium activity kicks off on Wednesday, March 18 with the return of the popular pre-certification courses. The program offers professionals new to the field or who do not specialize in eating disorders, a comprehensive introduction to eating disorders as well as professionals who specialize in eating disorders and want to be recognized as a certified professional, comprehensive eating disorder training courses in a two-day, 12-hour track.
Thursday, March 19 will feature 18 different sessions, including the conclusion of the pre-certification courses and the grand opening reception. Other Thursday highlights include sessions on brain functionality in eating disorders, underlying issues for clinicians and innovative treatment strategies for challenging cases.
Keynote speaker Claudia Black, PhD, will kick off Friday's sessions with her presentation, "The Family as the Client." Other notable topics among the 12 sessions that day include ethical issues in eating disorder treatment and binge eating disorder.
Keynote speaker, Dan Tomasulo, PhD, will be among 11 sessions Saturday, March 21 when he launches day 2 with his presentation, "Wrong to Strong: What Positive Psychology Can Offer Clinical Professionals."
Sunday, March 22 begins at 9 a.m. with a first-time keynote panel address, "Elusive Answers: Difficult Cases that Pose Clinical and Ethical Challenges," answering the question of "what to do when," based on actual case studies from the multidisciplinary viewpoints of experienced professionals. Presenters include: Bryan Gusdal, MA Director (Panel Moderator), Jennifer Gaudiani MD, CEDS, Edward Tyson MD, CEDS, Amy Boyers PhD, CEDS and Karen Beerbower MS, RD, LD, CEDRD. Following the keynote panel, there are 90-minute workshop sessions, including topics on how to run a successful practice, a Spanish language workshop, "This Is Beauty: The Body Positive's Response to Body Hatred," and two three-hour experiential sessions.
