The James Royal Palm Opens On South Beach During Art Basel 2012 Newest Property In Luxury Hotel Brand's Expanding Portfolio Welcomes Guests To Its Miami Location

This exciting addition to the South Beach hotel scene is Denihan Hospitality Group's reincarnation of the historic and much-beloved Royal Palm Hotel and made its official splash just in time for Art Basel last week. The property is owned by KSL Capital Partners, a private equity firm specializing in travel and leisure enterprises.

To celebrate the opening, The James Royal Palm hosted a series of signature events during Art Basel, the most celebrated week of events in Miami's annual calendar. Festivities kicked off with the Vernissage After Party for Miami's newest art fair, UNTITLED, held on The James Royal Palm's signature lawn on Monday, December 3. The week of parties continued with a private "moonlight" cocktail party hosted by Interview Magazine and Sotheby's held on the hotel's pool deck on Tuesday, December 4. On Thursday, December 6, Chef Kris Wessel, chef and partner of the hotel's signature restaurant, Florida Cookery, hosted the first Artist's Palate event with Wallpaper* magazine, featuring food as works of art; which was followed immediately afterwards by the after party for "KURT," the experimental short film chronicling the life of the late Nirvana front man, Kurt Cobain, which was attended by Henry Hopper, Adarsha Benjamin, and Harmony Korine. Putting the official last stamp on Miami Art Week, The James Royal Palm hosted the highly anticipated Art Basel Miami Beach closing party where 1,000 of the art world's VIP's gathered to celebrate Miami's most talked about season of the year.
