The Land of the Jungle Book - Madhya Pradesh - Launches Campaign to Introduce Its Rich Heritage, Culture and Wildlife to Travelers and Agents

NEW YORK, Oct. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With US tourist arrivals to India growing 27% over the past four years, some 1.3 million Americans visiting India last year and interest in the country at an all-time high, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MP Tourism), is seizing the opportunity to introduce the state's rich heritage, culture and wildlife and position Madhya Pradesh as a new 'must explore' destination.

Located in the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh is well established amongst domestic travelers and has won dozens of awards including best state for tourism three years in a row. MP Tourism is now setting its sights on the US market with the goal of attracting more visitors.

To accomplish this, MP Tourism has launched a multi-faceted campaign designed to establish its brand, grow awareness and interest in the destination, educate travel professionals and increase the number of travel offers in the marketplace. The tourism office has appointed Latitude International as its US agency and local representative to implement a strategic campaign comprised of marketing, communications, and advertising initiatives over the next five years.

Starting with trade and media outreach, MP Tourism will be participating in the USTOA Annual Conference in November and will host educational workshops in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles in December. Other key elements of the campaign include placements of advertorials in top consumer and trade print and electronic media, ongoing communication and assistance to travel professionals, collaborative promotional efforts with tour operators, travel associations and airlines, media relations, escorted group familiarization and press trips to the destination, social media marketing and more.

Madhya Pradesh is a region which will surprise and delight even the most seasoned traveler; both exceptional in its offerings while noticeably untouched. The states is home to 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites - the 10th century temples of Khajuraho, covered in ecstatic erotic sculptures which are reminders of India's ancient artistic heritage, millennia-old Buddhist monuments at Sanchi and Paleolithic cave paintings at Bhimbetka – so much of the subcontinent's unimaginably long history compressed into a single, vastly unexplored region.

Madhya Pradesh is also home to rich forests, nature reserves, wildlife sanctuaries and national parks which cover 25% of its territory and house countless exotic species, including nearly 20% of India's tiger population. By virtue of being a sanctuary for India's National Animal, it has been deemed a 'Tiger State'.

The Pench Tiger Reserve and its surroundings provided inspiration for the setting of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book stories. The character Mowgli was created from a true story narrated by Sir William Henry Sleeman about a boy raised by wolves. Many of the Jungle Book's locations, including Seoni, Mowgli's birthplace, and village, can still be visited today.
