The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to Host Inaugural Perkins Corporate Challenge

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As part of the 10^th Annual Bay Area Leukemia Cup Regatta, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Greater Bay Area Chapter will be hosting its inaugural Perkins Corporate Challenge on October 17, 2015 at The St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco. Accel, Kilroy Realty, Pacific Union International and Visa have each committed teams to compete for the Perkins Challenge Trophy, which will be presented at the Leukemia Cup Regatta VIP Dinner later that night. The Perkins Corporate Challenge is an opportunity for Northern California businesses to help LLS invest important funds for breakthrough research and provide access to life-saving treatments for blood cancer patients.

During the Perkins Corporate Challenge, five corporate teams will race on J/22 class sailboats provided by the St. Francis Yacht Club. Teams from Accel, Kilroy Realty, Pacific Union International and Visa will compete for the Perkins Challenge Trophy while joining forces to support the LLS mission. In order to compete, each company committed at least $20,000 per team to LLS and will be attending the VIP Dinner. The Perkins Corporate Challenge is named after and celebrates Thomas Perkins, Leukemia Cup Regatta Honorary Chairman and founder of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Perkins has played a pivotal role in the Bay Area Leukemia Cup Regatta since its inception 10 years ago.

The Leukemia Cup Regatta is a thrilling sailing event that combines the joy of boating with the important task of raising money to cure cancer. The 10^th Annual Bay Area Leukemia Cup Regatta will be taking place on October 17-18, 2015 at The San Francisco Yacht Club in Belvedere, Calif. The VIP Dinner will take place on October 17 with special guest speaker Joe Lacob, owner, co-executive chairman, CEO and governor of the Golden State Warriors, co-managing member of the Golden State Warriors' ownership group and strategic advisor to Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Since 2006, the Bay Area Leukemia Cup Regatta has raised over $5.1 million to support LLS's mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
