The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light The Night Walk Celebrates Top Fundraising Walgreens Store in Bay Area
San Francisco Walgreens Raised Thousands of Dollars for Blood Cancer Research
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Northern California Chapter recently honored Walgreens store number 00890, located at 135 Powell Street, San Francisco, Calif., for being the top fundraising Bay Area store during the 2014 Light The Night® Walk campaign. The Walgreens location raised $5,270.74 by selling Light The Night paper icons during the Northern California 2014 Light The Night Walks, which took place September through November.
On February 3, 2015, members of the Light The Night team hosted a celebration at the Walgreens store with a brief awards ceremony and LLS giveaways for the staff and customers. During the ceremony, store manager Michael Joseph presented LLS with a check for the amount fundraised and LLS gifted Joseph with a canvas artwork from a blood cancer survivor. The top fundraising cashier was also recognized with a gift as a token of appreciation from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Walgreens store number 00890 is a member of the 57th district led by district manager Dave Devencenzi and is included in Walgreens' Market 11 territory. This territory includes all of Northern California and raised a total of $110,041.94 selling Light The Night paper icons in 2014 during Blood Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place every year in September. The Light The Night paper icons were sold in participating Walgreens locations in the United States for $1.00 each and featured pictures of young blood cancer patients from across the country.
