The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Man & Woman of the Year Countdown to Grand Finale

SAN FRANCISCO, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) 21st Man & Woman of the Year campaign has entered its home-stretch, with candidates engaged in the last weeks of a spirited competition. The winners will earn LLS's "Man & Woman of the Year" title by raising funds for blood cancer research. Every dollar counts as one vote and the titles will be awarded to the man and woman with the most votes at the Grand Finale. The candidates will raise funds in honor of local blood cancer survivors and the Boy and Girl of the Year, Juan Carlos Zapata and Ruby Grandy, who are both currently undergoing treatment for leukemia.

Candidates hosting events around the Bay Area
Candidates are using their talents, networks and creativity to raise funds and help advance LLS's mission to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
A majority of the candidates are participating because of their own personal experience with blood cancer or are honoring someone close to them.
