The Libman Company, Healthy Facilities Institute, & PTA Partner to Donate $20,000 in Libman Mops to Schools Hit by Hurricane Sandy
ARCOLA, Ill., Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Libman Company, a leading U.S. brand of high quality cleaning products, has partnered with the Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI), the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA®), the New Jersey PTA, and the Brick, New Jersey, Lake Riviera Middle School PTA to donate more than $20,000 worth of Libman's top selling mop, the Big Tornado® Mop, to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort. Brick, New Jersey was one of the hardest hit communities and remains under a state of emergency.
"A partnership with HFI and the National PTA," said Andrew Libman, one of the fourth generation company owners, "was a great opportunity to quickly get our mops into the hands of the families who needed them most."
Cathy Lindenbaum, the VP of Education for the New Jersey PTA, is leading the relief effort on the ground. Prior to Libman's donation, the New Jersey PTA had many requests from the community for mops and other cleaning supplies. "I gave them what we had, but as one woman put it, it wasn't enough," Lindenbaum said. Libman's donation is coming just in time. School has resumed this week, along with many other businesses. The clean-up effort still has a long way to go, with many expected not to be able to return home for another six months.
The Lake Riviera Middle School PTA will distribute the mops on a first-come, first-serve basis from the Little League Association clubhouse, at 243 Cherry Quay Road, Brick, New Jersey. For more information on how to receive a donated Libman mop or to make additional donations, please contact Cathy Lindenbaum at 732-239-3674.
In addition, National PTA last week announced a special grant program to assist those schools impacted by Superstorm Sandy. The grant program will award a minimum of $500 (and up to $5,000) to PTAs in good standing in areas affected by the superstorm. The grant money may be used to repair storm damage to school libraries and playgrounds, purchase new books and supplies, and much more. PTAs may apply for more than one grant if they have multiple needs. Grant applications, which can be found at pta.org/SuperstormRelief, will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until 8 pm EST on December 28, or until grant funds are exhausted.
