The Lynne Mitchell Foundation Founder Awarded Civil Trailblazer Award
Dade County Bar Association Recognizes Marlene Gordon for Philanthropic Efforts
MIRAMAR, Fla., March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of her tireless efforts to enhance communities through education, access to job opportunities, and career advancement, the Dade County Bar Association recently presented its Civil Trailblazer award to Marlene Gordon, the founder and president of the Lynne Mitchell Foundation. Awarded on Feb. 2, 2017, the award seeks to recognize those in the legal field who use their insight, expertise, and professional relationships to improve the lives of those less fortunate. Ms. Gordon was chosen for this honor primarily for her work through the Lynne Mitchell Foundation, which provides educational resources and scholarships to deserving students in Jamaica.
"I am both humbled and honored to be recognized by my peers with this distinction," said Ms. Gordon. "While philanthropic work is indeed its own best reward, knowing that those efforts are noticed by others means that we're making a visible difference that we can then leverage towards making even greater strides."
Alongside her work with the Lynne Mitchell Foundation, Ms. Gordon's active involvement in the business community was also considered as part of the award selection. Other similar awards Ms. Gordon has received in the past include being named Glass Ceiling Award recipient as well as one of 2013's Most Powerful & Influential Women by the Florida Diversity Action Council. She currently serves as Vice President, General Counsel of Bacardi North America Corporation and is the Global chair for Bacardi's Women In Leadership Initiative. Ms. Gordon also previously served as a board member for Suited for Success – an initiative of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce.
