The Makers Of Pine-Sol® Partner With Actress Rosie Perez To Empower Women To Share Stories Of Strength And Encouragement
New Survey Reveals 'Real' Female Role Models and Why They're Sources of Inspiration
OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to get a better understanding of the challenges women face and how they share inspiration among each other to rise above adversity, the makers of Pine-Sol® Brand Cleaners commissioned a survey via Wakefield Research among women across the U.S. According to the results, 86% of women ages 35 plus, say their biggest female role model is someone they know personally, not a celebrity or political figure. To recognize and celebrate the remarkable women among us, Pine-Sol is launching the 'When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It' campaign, teaming up with actress and activist Rosie Perez. Now through January 31, 2014, women across America are encouraged to contribute their own stories of triumph to Pine-Sol's moving collection of stories by visiting WomenRiseAboveIt.com.
"I feel extremely honored to have been given the opportunity to be part of the Pine-Sol 'When Life Gets Though, Women Rise Above It' movement, celebrating the strong, courageous women who have overcome deep, dark moments in their lives," shared Perez. "I can empathize with these stories and admire programs that provide a space for women to come together and share life's challenges, which only make us stronger."
As part of the program, Pine-Sol is awarding a $25,000 donation to Women Empowered, a nonprofit based in Los Angeles that connects, educates and supports women of all ages and backgrounds, inspiring them to give back to their communities. The official brand spokesperson, The Pine-Sol Lady, Diane Amos, presented the check to the organization, in the presence of the outstanding members and volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy to mentoring and empowering other women, and are now inspiring other women throughout the country by sharing their own stories of perseverance at WomenRiseAboveIt.com.

Additionally, 65% feel they are currently a role model to someone in their life.
"During tough times, women have proved to be resilient and resourceful, overcoming obstacles to improve their lives, their families, and in turn, their communities," said Stephanie Mann, marketing manager for Pine-Sol at The Clorox Company. "We're pleased to discover that women are turning to those closest to them for inspiration, and we're excited to celebrate women who have faced adversity, encouraging others to unite and face life's challenges."
What is it about these women that make them so inspiring? Self-confidence— 27% of women say the trait they most admire in other women is confidence, followed by courage (20%), strength (18%), optimism (17%) and grace (12%). With experience comes wisdom and strength— on average, women say they were first tested to overcome their fears at age 30, with 56% stating they feel more independent compared to five years prior.
