The 2010 application period resulted in a selection of 140 students from across the country who received awards ranging from $2,500 for part-time studies and $4,000 to $10,000 for full-time students. Five recipients are receiving $10,000 awards this year, they are: Delores Wiarco; Zaira Tinoco; Jonathon Mitchell; Gloria Lopez Potichko; and Renzo Castillo. With an average GPA of 3.51 and an average GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score of 647, the list comprises talented, intelligent and worthwhile candidates.
"We're extremely excited to again be doing what we do so very well, and that's give money to deserving students who are bettering themselves educationally," said Steve Ramos, NSHMBA Interim CEO. "It is a terrible loss to companies–and society as whole–when it is never shown the right person for the job because that person is unable to hurdle the obstacle of financing a degree. The NSHMBA Scholarship Program ensures recipients easily clear this hurdle and land on the other side of success and that we continue in our objective to provide opportunity for students, and qualified candidates for companies."
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) has paved the way for Hispanics to pursue masters' degrees in business administration, resulting in millions given to deserving Hispanic students and professionals. In the past 5 years over $3.75 million in financial assistance has been given to 896 recipients thanks to the contributions and assistance from individual and corporate donors.
NSHMBA, the nation's most prestigious Hispanic organization promoting graduate management education, along with the generous support of corporate partners, members and universities, will proudly recognize the 2010 recipients during the NSHMBA Annual Conference and Career Expo in Chicago, October 21-23, 2010.
