WASHINGTON, April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer has been named one of the best nonprofits to work for by The NonProfit Times' annual survey. In the ranking of top-tier nonprofits nationwide, ZERO ranked 38 in 2015. In the ranking of small nonprofits, ZERO ranked 19.
"We are honored to be acknowledged for the second consecutive year as one of the Top 50 Best Nonprofits to Work For in the U.S.," said ZERO CEO Jamie Bearse. "Our talented and motivated staff works daily to achieve our mission of ending prostate cancer, and this ranking reflects the hard work and dedication ZERO employees are known for."
The annual survey found common factors in the operation and employee job satisfaction of the top nonprofits, including leading and planning, pay and benefits, and corporate culture and communications. The ranked nonprofits on this year's list focused on these key threads, which are reflective of ZERO's values of alignment, impact, transparency, and courage. In alignment with the common threads found by the survey, ZERO employees are talented and high-performing, and are motivated by the mission to end prostate cancer – a disease that affects on in seven American men. In addition to a passion for the cause, ZERO rewards employees with a culture that places value on personal and career growth, freedom, and work-life balance.
The annual survey included nonprofits of all sizes, including those with a staff of less than 50 – like ZERO – to larger organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project and American Heart Association, who have a staff of 250 or more. Of the nonprofits selected for the award, ZERO was one of the few working in the cancer space in both the overall rankings and those of the small nonprofits.
The Best Nonprofit program was open to all nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status that have a facility with a minimum of 15 employees in the United States. The assessment process was managed for The NonProfit Times by Best Companies Group (BCG) in Harrisburg, Pa., an independent workplace research firm specializing in identifying and recognizing great places to work throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
