HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rogue Initiative, the full spectrum production studio and cinematic content developer, has secured a seven-figure round of Series A funding by CBT Capital Limited, a China based 2Billion RMB culture & media fund partnered with CRTV that is offering capital and strategic resources. The funding will be used for further development of original traditional and immersive Film and Television Projects/Entertainment Content Intellectual Properties and relevant technologies.
"CBT is a new fund with a competitive edge, a clear strategy, and a list of 74+ target companies. Valuing human capital, investing in what we know and love is our investment philosophy. And so with Rogue Initiative, it was a no-brainer. They have real professionals doing professional work and we welcome RI to our family," says Daniel Sun of CBT.
The financing comes as The Rogue Initiative had previously announced a partnership with Michael Bay to develop original entertainment properties, having additionally appointed the famed Transformers director as stakeholder, strategic partner and advisor. Producer Lynda Obst (Interstellar, Contact, Sleepless in Seattle) holds a similar partnership role. They join advisors Matthew Cohan, President of Bay Films; Cliff Plumer, CEO of THE VOID, Cody Simms, Executive Director at TechStars and Ryan Wang, General Partner of Outpost Capital.
"Working with CBT is exciting because they share our passion and vision in applying our technology and expertise to create compelling and globally marketable content. They are a true strategic partner that allow us to continue to grow our brand and content worldwide," said Pete Blumel, Co-Founder, CEO and Creative Director, The Rogue Initiative.
In collaboration with key filmmakers, studios, and technology companies, Rogue Initiative's vision is to bring together the best of Hollywood storytelling and a fierce technology pedigree. Their current announced projects include the VR Game Experience CROWE: THE DROWNED ARMORY, which will release later this month on major game and VR platforms, and the VR Film AGENT EMERSON, the pilot of the Identity Experience series, which stars Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass) and Tony Denison (Major Crimes) and is currently in post-production with a late summer release date scheduled for all major VR platforms.
"I'm excited to work with CBT as a strategic partner and look forward to creating new and exciting projects through this alliance," said Cathy Twigg, Co-Founder, Chief Content & Production Officer, The Rogue Initiative.
Rogue Initiative intends to seek additional capital and strategic partnerships to further develop a slate of VR, film and television projects for platforms and distribution channels including partnerships with Sony, Oculus, HTC, Microsoft, Chinese game publishers and arcades and potential distribution channels such as HBO, Epix, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Littlstar, Iqiyi, and Youku.
"The investment from CBT Capital Limited provides us with a strong partner who can help us navigate our overall China strategy and execute in production and distribution in the largest and fastest growing media market in the world. We are thrilled to invite other strategic partners and investors globally that would like to participate in our expanding content approach as we address an increasingly global demand for high quality Hollywood content in Film, TV, VR and Gaming. Our cross-media strategy provides us with a full spectrum slate to create AAA content for any medium," said Hrish Lotlikar, Co-Founder & Chief Business Development Officer, The Rogue Initiative.
