The Salon Project By Joel Warren Announces
Innovative new salon to open in several Saks Fifth Avenue locations beginning this fall
NEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Joel Warren announces its exclusive partnerships with Saks Fifth Avenue to debut a new one-stop-shop salon concept with a futuristic edge. The Salon Project will launch at Saks' Huntington, Long Island unit and over the next two-years, The Salon Project will open in ten various locations throughout the United States. Houston and Boca Raton will be the second and third salons to open by 2018. Finally, New York City's 5th Avenue flagship store will open in October of 2019. The collection of salons will range in size between 3000 to 5000 square-feet.
Joel Warren says, "This is the salon of the future by combining stores like Apple, Sephora and a high-end salon and spa. As soon as guests walk in, they will literally enter a virtual reality," explained Joel. "Screens will be set up right at the entrance, which will allow clients the ability to virtually try on lipsticks and other cosmetics, then purchase products or add on services on the spot. I noticed the way that many salons do things isn't as efficient as it could be, so I started thinking about how to make it better and more profitable and realized it would be easier to bring everything to the client," continued Joel. "Operating salons and creating hair care products for over the past 20-years has brought me to these realizations.
RPG, a global firm designed The Salon Project within select Saks stores. The concept includes unexpected touches and many contemporary twists where 20th-century retro meets modern classical glamour. The finishes and textures are rich and in combining them in a light-hearted way they give of a grandeur that fosters the connection and confidence between artist and client.
The Salon Project will not have the typical front desk at the front of the salon to check in clients. Instead, guests will check in with concierges equipped with iPads which will direct them to their designated station. These stations are designed with sink, services and retail together and where the client will remain for the duration of their services.
Bruce E. Teitelbaum, CEO of RPG, commented, "We are thrilled to bring our global, diversified design and build experience to The Salon Project, a pioneer in its category. Joel's incredible talent and knowledge along with the prestige and allure of Saks and RPG's creative and manufacturing expertise should prove to be a winning combination."
To that end, all employees of The Salon Project will be given the opportunity to receive multi-services training and will play a major role in facilitating sales by establishing a trusted stylist-client relationship. At their seats, clients can use augmented reality technology, to try on products available in the salon's inventory and test lipsticks from a try-on bar cart, all while receiving recommendations from their hairdresser who can complete product purchase transactions from an iPad.
