AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The School of Invention™ online platform is poised to change the way inventors and innovators bring their ideas to the world. Two years in development, the platform will build on the success of the LeanInvention™ workshops, which trained inventors in a novel methodology for product development. As a result of the recent demise of Quirky, a crowd based product development company, the team behind The School of Invention seeks the help of the creative community to launch the platform in "BETA" as rapidly as possible. To that end, an ongoing Kickstarter campaign will provide the funds and support to build a robust, sustainable and prosperous community of like-minded innovators.

"The School of Invention is a revolutionary business model for the invention and innovation community," explains founder Conley Giles. "We are dramatically altering the way inventors, innovators and their teams develop and bring new ideas to fruition. The online platform provides the tools, lean invention methodology and ability to communicate freely with fellow collaborators, service providers, manufacturers, influencers and social media."
The School of Invention platform includes a broad collection of tools and resources, all geared toward helping anyone turn an idea into a profitable commercial product with a minimal investment of time and money. These tools include a web-based project management platform, provisional patent applications, standardized legal contracts and product validation via the crowd. The platform also empowers creators to connect directly with suppliers and manufacturers rather than executing a painstaking external search. The cornerstone of the School of Invention's online model, however, is training in the LeanInvention Methodology.
The LeanInvention Methodology has already proven to be a disruptive way to bring inventions and ideas to the market. The need for a game-changing approach has been clear for some time. Today, fewer than 5% of patented concepts reach the public; the time and resources necessary to realize a new product are beyond the reach of most individuals and small teams. As a result, billions of dollars are wasted, and the market is robbed of too many great ideas. The School of Invention will trim that waste significantly.
"I am an inventor by choice and an entrepreneur by necessity," says Giles "This platform enables anyone with a bright idea to build passive income 'Mailbox Money' without quitting one's day job (yet) or maxing out credit cards. Our mission is to help everyone with a problem-solving mentality start creating a portfolio of practical, profitable, licensed products."
The need to accelerate the launch of the platform was spurred by the bankruptcy of Quirky.com, a popular hub for the innovation community. However, The School of Invention's model is dramatically different. Rather than simply sourcing ideas and then developing them internally, At the School of Invention creators maintain full control of their projects . Former members of the Quirky.com community are encouraged to join what is certain to be a powerful new system for product development.
The funding goal of the Kickstarter campaign is $29,000. Perks for backers include access to The School of Invention BETA launch, training in the LeanInvention Methodology and a full year of membership with the platform following the full public launch. The campaign wraps up on December 18.
