The Social Network of the South to Host Inaugural Social Media Summit on Historic Jekyll Island, Georgia
Aspiring Bloggers and Entrepreneurs are invited to Connect, Collaborate and Create through Probe of South's Digital Landscape
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga., March 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern, gentile charm meets the abounding digital age when the first ever forum devoted to Southern bloggers and regional businesses convenes May 1-3, 2013 on historic Jekyll Island, Ga.
The Southern C Summit – a three-day immersion of workshops, lectures, networking opportunities and creative relaxation – is the expression of an online community focusing on the Southern culture.
The Southern Coterie – affectionately nicknamed The Southern C – is a digital front porch designed to share rich content, conversation and collaboration between niche Southern creatives. The idea for the new summit event came from the realization that no conference serving the blogging community focuses on the Southern lifestyle.
"For a gathering designed to focus on the unique cuisine, community, character and culture of the South, we couldn't imagine a more ideal location to meet than storied Jekyll Island," said Whitney Wise Long and Cheri Leavy, co-founders of The Southern C.
Jekyll Island is a paradise with an unrivaled story to tell. Within minutes of driving across a marsh-hemmed causeway, guests are transported to "the nearest faraway place" – Jekyll Island, a place surrounded by miles of sandy shores and enveloped by calming maritime forest and whispering ocean breezes. It is a place of timeless beauty layered with rich history, legacies and legends. Summit attendees will be afforded social opportunities to enjoy the island's lovely setting, Southern charm and abundant hospitality.
The oceanfront Jekyll Island Convention Center will play host to the inaugural summit. The all-new Convention Center offers participants sweeping views of the Atlanta Ocean and calming scenes of the maritime forest, perfectly paired with state-of-the-art technology in an idyllic, Southern setting.
The gathering kicks off on opening night with "Cocktails and Conversations," a joint effort between the Jekyll Island Club Hotel and Southern Living magazine. A panel discussion will be lead by a team of Southern Living editors while craft cocktails are made using Southern Living Test Kitchen recipes.
Attendance for the inaugural summit is limited and ticket price is $375. To register, visit http://www.thesoutherncsummit.com or click here.
For every ticket sold, a $10 donation will be made to Southern Foodways Alliance or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
