Company Names Experienced Executives to Newly Created Senior Management Positions to Oversee Product Strategy, Technology and Recruiting
ATLANTA, Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Strategic Financial Alliance (SFA), a leading, privately owned independent broker-dealer and Registered Investment Adviser, today announced the implementation of key groundwork activities to support accelerated organic and recruiting-driven growth for next year and beyond with the expansion of its senior leadership team in newly created functions with oversight for due diligence and financial products, technology and recruiting.
As part of this announcement, effective immediately, Jean Merriman has joined SFA as the company's Vice President of Due Diligence and Product, while Jamie Mackay has been appointed Vice President of Business Development. Additionally, technology sector veteran Joseph K. (Jay) Copeland has been named Vice President of Technology for the company. The appointment of the three leaders to these newly created senior operating roles for the company is expected to contribute significantly to SFA's accelerated strategic growth plans for 2018 and beyond.
Clive Slovin, President and CEO of SFA, said, "We are delighted to welcome these three talented and respected executives to serve in key operating roles in our expanded senior management team. With the crucial expertise and guidance that Jean Merriman will provide in the due diligence and product space, combined with Jay Copeland's leadership in technology, and Jamie Mackay's strategic approach to recruiting, SFA is positioned for considerable further success next year and beyond. We are confident these enhancements to our bench will deepen and expand the ability of our advisors to successfully grow their practices by meeting their clients' needs during a time of intensifying regulatory and business complexity for our industry, all while maintaining the close-knit sense of community we and our advisors value so highly."
As Vice President of Due Diligence and Product, Jean Merriman will oversee SFA's product offerings to ensure that the firm's financial advisors are equipped with the tools they need to meet their clients' needs. Prior to joining SFA, Ms. Merriman served as Vice President, Sponsor Relations and Due Diligence with First Allied Securities, working on all product lines including alternatives, mutual funds, insurance and asset management. She has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.
In his role as Vice President of Technology, Jay Copeland will leverage his more than 20 years of technology leadership experience to refine SFA's technology strategy. He will also be responsible for aligning the company's IT policy with its overall strategy for growth, including identifying areas for further technology enhancements and reinvestment that will directly benefit SFA's affiliated advisors. Before joining SFA, Mr. Copeland served as IT Site Manager for the Marine Electronics division of Johnson Outdoors, Inc., a leading international producer and distributor of outdoor recreational products, where he managed all aspects of Marine Electronics' information technology infrastructure, facilities, technical support and technology strategy.
SFA's new Vice President of Business Development, Jamie Mackay, will build the company's advisor referral networks and brand recognition in support of the company's recruiting efforts. His core focus will be on engaging with advisors who are passionate about serving their clients' needs through an independent firm with a unique identity: namely, one that strives to remain true to its roots as a firm founded by independent advisors and which continues to be significantly owned by them. Prior to joining SFA, Mr. Mackay worked in the wholesale channel, spending time with Transamerica Capital, Allianz Life and Allmerica Financial over the course of his successful 22-year career.
Mr. Slovin concluded, "The new hires we have announced today provide SFA with additional momentum as we continue to execute on the exciting strategic direction and vision we and our affiliated companies share for the future. We look forward to driving accelerated growth for both SFA and our affiliated advisors' practices in the years to come, all while remaining true to our culture of community and service, and maintaining the unique alignment of interests among our firm, our advisors and their clients."
