The Taiwan Fund, Inc. Declares Dividend

NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Taiwan Fund, Inc. (the "Fund") (NYSE: TWN) announced today that it has declared an annual dividend to the Fund's stockholders in an amount estimated at $0.56052 per share comprised entirely of long term capital gain.  The precise amount of the dividend will be announced on December 28, 2011. The dividend will be payable on January 9, 2012, to the stockholders of record at the close of business on December 30, 2011.

The Fund is a diversified closed-end investment company, which seeks long term capital appreciation primarily through investments in equity securities listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.  Shares of the Fund are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "TWN."
