The Villages Charter School Receives Donation From Praxis EMR

THE VILLAGES, Fla., Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, The Villages Charter School announced receipt of supplies and equipment donated by Praxis: The Template-Free EMR. Praxis made the donation soon after learning of the school's plans to begin using its electronic medical records system as part of its Health Sciences Academy this semester.

"There is a nationwide move to EMR adoption and we want to give our students an edge with hands-on experience with the latest medical charting technology," explained Eva Ball, RN, the Health Sciences teacher at The Villages High School. "We chose Praxis EMR because its approach to electronic charting actually captures a doctor's thought process."

The Health Sciences classroom houses a simulated clinic equipped with real-time working computer workstations. The workstations run Praxis EMR and utilize its powerful Knowledge Exchanger feature. With the Knowledge Exchanger, students can tap into the medical knowledge of real Praxis users to see how actual practicing physicians diagnose and treat medical cases.

The gifts donated by Praxis include a portable pulse oximeter, clipboards, and lanyards. Students will make use of these gifts in the classroom and in the offices of local physicians who will be hosting Health Academy students as volunteers this semester.
