The Way Forward for Smart Grid: GridWeek 2011 Planning Commences
DALLAS, Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Clasma Events hosted partners and sponsors for the GridWeek 2011 kick-off meeting in San Diego last week. Bringing organizers together eight months prior to the event is part of Clasma's collaborative planning model that ensures GridWeek is focused on the most relevant industry topics. The conference will take place Sept. 13-15 in Washington, D.C.
Given the state of grid modernization, the utilities, vendors, and media partners who attended last week's meeting selected "The Way Forward" as this year's theme for GridWeek, which has helped set the agenda for Smart Grid advancement since 2007. Focusing on strategies for energy business, policy, and solutions, each conference day will tackle a major topic:
- "Looking Forward" — Tuesday will cover the future of electricity, helping to paint a picture of the grid in five to ten years, such that industry stakeholders can understand the context in which their business plans and solutions strategies will mature.
- "Strategic Solutions" — On Wednesday, GridWeek will cover strategic technology drivers guiding utilities' grid-modernization plans — whether those drivers are consumer engagement, renewable integration, or cyber security.
- "State of Deployment" — Thursday will close with utility-rich panels that assess the state of Smart Grid deployment – an implementation report card to date. New to GridWeek, this status check will become a yearly addition to the agenda.
"In 2011, the industry has many successes to celebrate, but there is still a lot for utilities, regulators, and policymakers to understand when navigating the complexities of Smart Grid," said Anto Budiardjo, President, Clasma Events. "Cross-industry collaboration is key to the success of grid modernization, and GridWeek is the venue where people come together to help set the agenda for Smart Grid advancement."
