BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Oct. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the Authentic Caribbean Rum Marque campaign, the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers' Association (WIRSPA) has released its newest publication for trade press and industry professionals called "The Decade of Rum." This publication is an overview of the world rum market from 2000 to 2010 including insights and opinions from some of the world's leading spirits experts. The publication, developed using data from IWSR (International Wine & Spirit Research) and other sources, looks at the evolution of rum in the world market over the last decade and includes a closer look at some of the most important spirits markets in Europe and North America. The publication analyzes the global rum market, highlighting country-by-country data, market trends and the performance of individual styles of rum. The Decade of Rum publication also looks at Authentic Caribbean Rum, its incredible history and how industry leaders view it.
In addition to data analysis, the Authentic Caribbean Rum Marque carried out a series of Round Table discussions with more than 50 leading international spirits experts including journalists, bloggers, bartenders and influencers. Their views are also included in the publication. Round Table sessions have been held in Miami, Toronto, San Francisco, New York, London, Milan, Madrid and via Google Hangout with participants from all over the world.
ABOUT AUTHENTIC CARIBBEAN RUMS AND THE ACR MARQUE
The Authentic Caribbean Rum (ACR) Marque was developed as a symbol of authenticity, provenance and quality for rums within the WIRSPA family. As usage of the Marque grows it will act as a visual symbol to help trade customers and consumers identify ACR brands, but in the short-term it will be used to promote the development of Authentic Caribbean Rum as a distinct sector within the drinks industry.
In order to qualify for the Marque, products must adhere to its criteria and regulations. The ACR Marque criteria is underpinned by:
- The Marque license agreement which is issued and supervised by WIRSPA
- The ACR Marque Conditions of Use and the ACRM Visual Identity Guidelines
- CARIFORUM quality standards and labeling regulations
- All regulations in the markets of sale (European Union, United States, etc)
