'The White House Ops' App Lets Players Take Presidential Election Matters into Their Own Hands

HINESVILLE, Ga., Oct. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In time for the end-game of the current presidential elections, game development company American Brain has released "The White House Ops" for the iPad and iPhone platforms.

Freely downloadable from the Apple App Store, this app allows players to push presidential campaign battles beyond the typical sound-bites and empty words: no more talk of "battleground states" without a battle.

Based on the novel The White House Games, written by Say Dozeman, The White House Ops features a fast-paced race combined with a fight for survival as players steer major characters from the novel through a dangerous experience in the Amazon jungle.

If the candidates manage to make it through the jungle phase, they must then try to survive Hell Week with real-life Navy SEAL-candidates in Coronado. California.

The final phase is a Mixed Martial Arts no-rules, no-holds-barred, fight-to-the-finish at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

"The White House Games -- that is, the novel that inspired this app -- is like a combination of The Hunger Games, Survivor and Celebrity Apprentice. And now this app -- The White House Ops -- captures that fire-in-the-belly spirit of intense competition needed to become the leader of the free world," said Dozeman.

The player's objective is to collect points to make his or her favorite candidate the next president. While The White House Ops is a single-player app, the leaderboard is designed to collect the scores of different players. The candidate with the most "player wins" becomes the ultimate winner of the presidential elections.

Players can take their chances during gameplay and see which candidate will collect the most points and win, or they can choose the option of using in-app purchases to influence the game's outcome in favor of their own presidential candidate.

An in-app purchase can be used either to help the player's favorite candidate or to handicap the opposing candidate. "Those who have seen The Hunger Games or Survivor will recognize the concept," said Dozeman. "For example, a looser-purchase such as a poison allows the player to poison the opposing candidate. And a booster-purchase such as a vitamin-jolt can confer extra powers upon the player's own favorite candidate."

The app is free. But for players who want their candidate to stand a good chance in the final tally, the in-app purchases will help, and each in-app purchase has a different cost.

The White House Ops offers three levels of difficulty: easy, moderate and hard. "The different levels make it possible for anyone from age nine to 90 to play the game," said Dozeman. "If the player is old enough to use an iPhone or iPad, there's a level of play that's suitable to their dexterity and reaction time."

American Brain plans to create similar apps depicting future elections in other countries. The company also has plans to extend The White House Ops and their future apps to a wider range of platforms.

The White House Ops is now available for free download at the Apple App Store.

The associated novel The White House Games is also currently available as an e-book through Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Libboo.com.
