HOUSTON, June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The media is invited to a ceremonial groundbreaking on June 4, 2015, at the future site of an apartment complex operated by The Women's Home, a Houston-based nonprofit that helps women and children in crisis. Project sponsors and local dignitaries will speak at the event, which celebrates the building of an 84-unit complex designed to provide supportive housing for homeless women and children.
The Women's Home project was awarded a $500,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant in 2014 from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) through Amegy Bank, an FHLB Dallas member institution. The funding will be used for construction costs. AHP grants are available annually through FHLB Dallas member institutions to assist in the development of affordable owner-occupied and rental housing for very low- to moderate-income households located across FHLB Dallas' five-state District of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas. In 2014, FHLB Dallas awarded $9.8 million in AHP grants to 33 projects that will result in 1,586 new or renovated housing units. In 2015, FHLB Dallas is offering $7.6 million in AHP grants.
