Theron, Beckinsale, Depp and Downey Top Fandango's 2012 Hot List

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to ranking next year's stars and upcoming flicks, men and women disagree over the sexiest and the most anticipated of 2012, according to a December poll on Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination.

Female respondents chose Johnny Depp (Dark Shadows) and Charlize Theron (starring in Ridley Scott's Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman) as the sexiest man and woman in 2012 movies, while men picked Robert Downey Jr. (as "Iron Man" Tony Stark in The Avengers) and Kate Beckinsale (who stars in three of next year's movies, Contraband, the Total Recall remake and a new Underworld sequel).

According to female moviegoers, the two most anticipated blockbusters of 2012 will be the Twilight sequel, Breaking Dawn, Part 2, and The Hunger Games. For men, it's all about The Hobbit, Marvel's The Avengers and the Dark Knight sequel. When it comes to remakes, women are looking forward to Baz Luhrmann's Great Gatsby and the adult-themed Snow White reimagining (with Kristen Stewart in the title role and Charlize Theron as Queen Ravenna), while men are anticipating the sci-fi action in Total Recall and The Amazing Spider-Man. 

Thousands of film fans responded to the survey, which was posted on Fandango.com during the first weeks of December. Since the Fandango Hot List is focused on next year's films, performers whose upcoming movies do not have a 2012 release date were not included.
