NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2014 America Tonight launches a special series on the challenges currently facing American education on January 20th at 9 PM EST/6 PM PT. In part one, correspondent Soledad O'Brien profiles two families -- hailing from Ohio and Pennsylvania -- who have been tailed by private investigators, arrested and incarcerated for the 'crime' of enrolling their children in schools that were out of boundary from where they live. Additional segments will feature reports by correspondents Sheila MacVicar, Sarah Hoye, Chris Bury and Adam May.
Following Senator John McCain's recent interview with Al Jazeera America anchor John Seigenthaler in which McCain criticized current U.S. policy in the Middle East, Al Jazeera America will continue to report on President Obama's upcoming State of the Union address. In the interview, Senator McCain's first appearance on Al Jazeera America, he cited recent events in Fallujah as "an abject abysmal failure" and described the Syrian civil war as "…an ongoing tragedy that is destabilizing the whole region - this conflict is bound to spread. And sooner rather than later, the United States is going to pay a heavy price for our noninvolvement."
