Thomas possesses extensive expertise in the areas of mass spectrometric analysis and data interpretation, with a special focus on metabolite identification. He is co-author of 75 scientific journal articles and 3 book chapters.
Thomas earned both his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Biochemistry. Prior to his retirement, he maintained memberships with the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Mass Spectrometry.
