Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation to Host The Foods of Anne Burrell
Food Network star will headline TRF's Annual Gala August 9 at Canfield Casino
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., July 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) welcomes Food Network star and celebrity chef Anne Burrell on Sunday, Aug. 9 for its annual fundraising gala at Canfield Casino in Congress Park.
Recommended to host this year's TRF gala by Food Network Chef Bobby Flay, a long-time supporter of TRF and the host of last year's gala, Anne Burrell is best known for her iconic, spiky blonde hair, culinary prowess and spunky personality on and off camera. Burrell is currently the host of Food Network's "Worst Cooks in America" and will also host a new series, "Worst Cooks In America: Celebrity Edition," debuting this Fall 2015. She has previously starred on Food Network's "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef," "Chef Wanted" and "Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs."
Aspiring to empower at-home cooks, Anne has published two cookbooks: The New York Times Bestseller "Cook Like a Rock Star" (2011) and "Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Inspire and Empower" (2013). She also has worked at some of the top restaurants in New York and has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle Host.
The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation's gala, "The Foods of Anne Burrell," will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature Burrell's culinary creations, specialty cocktails by Tito's Handmade Vodka and live entertainment. The evening will raise funds for TRF's efforts with a unique, live auction featuring exclusive one-of-a-kind items from the world of horseracing, including several items from the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, American Pharaoh. Tickets for "The Foods of Anne Burrell" are available by visiting bit.ly/TRFGala or by calling (518) 226-0028.
Founded in 1983, the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) is the oldest and largest equine sanctuary in the world dedicated to saving no-longer-competitive thoroughbred racehorses from possible neglect, abuse and slaughter. The only Thoroughbred rescue organization offering lifelong homes to horses whose racing-related injuries make them unsuitable as a riding horse, TRF cares for over 1,000 former Thoroughbred racehorses at 25 facilities in 14 states.
In addition to its dedication to helping thoroughbred horses in need, the nonprofit organization operates TRF Second Chances, an industry-leading rehabilitation program providing vocational training to inmates through supervised care of retired racehorses. TRF farms hosting the Second Chances program can be found in nine states, including those near New York City, Ocala, Fla. and Lexington, Ky. All money raised during the gala will benefit TRF programs, including Second Chances in all of its markets.
