ThreeL Media Opens for Business
Announces Original Book Titles for Publication in 2015
LOS ANGELES, Aug 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Gregory Kaplan, founder and CEO of Bridge21 Publications LLC (www.bridge21.us), has launched ThreeL Media (www.threelmedia.com) to fill a void in the marketplace for post-ideological, cross-disciplinary and pragmatic perspectives on human sexuality. ThreeL Media will operate as a multi-platform publisher of printed and digital content focused on intersections of sexuality with health, politics, spirituality, arts and social science.
"ThreeL Media will serve as a platform for authors and artists with thoughtful perspectives unobstructed by ideological anachronisms," Dr. Kaplan said. "Spanning traditional and emerging media, ThreeL's editorial strategy will bring together diverse angles of vision, including first-person narratives, works of scholarship and investigative journalism, voices of political dissent and flights of the literary imagination."
Starting today, ThreeL Media welcomes submissions and proposals from writers and filmmakers whose work helps reveal important dimensions of sexuality, particularly in the context of:
- Alternative lifestyles, including BDSM, polyamory/non-monogamy, LGBT, sex trade and sex work.
- Politics of gender identity.
- Repressions and denigrations of healthy sexuality.
- Challenges to sexually repressive hegemonies and cultural shifts toward post-doctrinal sexuality.
- Newsworthy events and personalities in alternative-lifestyle communities.
In September 2014, ThreeL Media will launch its blog at www.threelmedia.com. By the summer of 2015, ThreeL Media will publish two books:
- Love Not Given Lightly: Profiles at the Edge of Sex, by Tina Horn. Illuminating human issues of embodiment, desire, gender, beauty, and ultimately friendship, the true stories of pro-dommes, porn stars, kinky fetishists, rent boys, and more in this book will no less than alter the way you think about modern sexuality in America. The author, an award-winning media maker, holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Sarah Lawrence College.
- Unshaven: Modern Women, Natural Bodies, photography by Nikki Silver with text by Tina Horn, Maggie Mayhem, and others. Erotic and feminist, revealing and defiant, and entirely unlike any nude portraits of women you have ever seen. Whether they are defying gender norms, rejecting consumer conformity, or developing a new kind of counter-culture body modification, these women may be the 21st century's post-modern heroines.
Dr. Kaplan added: "We are thrilled to start our venture with these two books written by skilled story-tellers who approach their subject matter with deep empathy and fearless iconoclasm. Moving forward in the same spirit, we expect to announce, later this year, new titles for publication in 2015."
ThreeL Media is exploring additional publishing programs such as eBooks, original essays, and important works re-published in new formats with new introductions and annotations.
