Tied Together Laces Mission to Raise Money and Awareness for Supporters of Those Suffering from Loss
Proceeds from the Sale of the Shoelaces will go to the Too Much Too Soon Foundation
NEW YORK, Aug. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Too Much Too Soon Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that raises funds and awareness for people coping with loss, has just launched a new mission called Tied Together.
In order to help support the people who are helping those who are struggling with their loss and intense feelings of grief, Tied Together involves selling shoelaces that are meant to be shared. People who order a pair of shoelaces from the Tied Together mission can keep one of the laces for themselves, and then give the other to a supporter or caregiver. By sharing and wearing the laces, those who are suffering from grief, their supporters and others will be symbolically "Tied Together."
All money that is raised from the sale of the laces will go directly to the Too Much Too Soon Foundation. The foundation was founded in 2013 by Andrew Paul Maksymowicz, a young man who watched both of his parents succumb to cancer over the course of eight years.
"After losing both parents to cancer I got a crash course on the hardships of grief," Andrew said, adding that he could not believe how lonely, isolating, and scary grief was.
"The next few years following their passing would prove to be my most challenging. Even as I was in the early stages of grief I made a promise to myself to offer comfort and advice to others in similar roles of being a supporter or caregiver."
Andrew's vow to help others led to the formation of both the Too Much Too Soon Foundation, and the new Tied Together laces mission. As Andrew explained, he was inspired to use shoelaces to help show support for caregivers, because "You can only know what a person is experiencing by walking in their shoes, or by sharing the walk with them."
