SAN MATEO, Calif., Nov. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tile, the tiny Bluetooth tracker and companion app that keep people connected to the things that matter to them most, today announced in-store availability at major retailers Best Buy, Target, and Kenneth Cole. Tiles will also be available at Lowe's starting in mid-November.
Availability in leading U.S. retailers marks a significant milestone for the IoT startup, which kicked off its crowdfunding campaign in 2013, raising $2.6 million in 34 days. Tile still maintains the record for most successful crowdfunding campaign, based on units sold. In the intervening two years, Tile has raised an additional $16 million in venture capital funding and shipped more than two million Tiles worldwide, placing Tiles in more than 214 countries and territories. Expansion into major American brick-and-mortar stores allows the company to deliver this time- and money-saving solution to more consumers than ever before.
"Tile is a true mass-market product, designed to help solve a universal problem: people lose stuff, and it takes a lot of time and money to find or replace important items," said Mike Farley, CEO and co-founder, Tile. "Ninety percent of US retail purchases still happen in stores, so brick-and-mortar was the logical next step in our evolution as a company and we could not have found better partners than the retail giants we've rolled out with this month. We look forward to seeing the Tile community scale and find even more stuff for even more people."
Tile is currently available in all U.S. Best Buy and Target stores, and the flagship Kenneth Cole store in New York, and will be available in all U.S. Lowe's stores in mid-November. This builds on Tile's existing availability in all U.S. T-Mobile stores, T-Mobile online, Amazon, eBags.com, and at thetileapp.com. The app remains available for free download at DownloadTile.com or in the App Store or Google Play.
Tile keeps you close to the things that matter most. The company's first product, also called Tile, is a tiny Bluetooth tracker and companion app that helps people find misplaced and lost items. Tile is a mass market internet of things device, providing community members with a platform to choose the items that matter to them most – keys, luggage, valuables, cars, you name it – and giving those things a voice by connecting them to the internet. Based in San Mateo, CA, Tile's mission is to connect everything, and the company already has a global community of members in over 200 countries and territories helping make that happen.
