Time Warner Cable Refuses to Air Mohu Leaf HDTV Antenna Commercial
30 Second Spot Highlights Free HDTV Broadcasts Available Over the Air to the Viewing Public
RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mohu, Inc. a leading producer of antenna technology and makers of the top-selling HDTV antenna, the Mohu Leaf, today announced that Time Warner Cable has refused to air a planned advertising campaign scheduled to run on channels in Columbus, OH and Kansas City because the commercial states that viewers "do not need cable."
The planned Leaf thirty second spot actually states that customers do not need "expensive cable service to watch HD programs" and that "most top-rated shows are broadcast free, over the air in full high definition."
The paper-thin Leaf was invented by Greenwave Scientific antenna engineers last spring in Raleigh, North Carolina. After years of designing and developing special purpose antennas for the U.S. military, Greenwave decided to spin out a consumer brand, Mohu (gomohu.com), and the Leaf was their first product. It has quickly built a following among the growing number of consumers who want HD programming delivered easily, with no excessive bills. The Leaf is a made in America product that will hit stores around the US and Canada in time for the holidays this year.
"We are still excited about running a commercial to let people know about the Leaf and how you can receive full, uncompressed HD over the air now," said Dr. Mark Buff, president of Mohu, Inc. "The top-20 rated shows on television are available free with no monthly bills. Of course we wanted to run the commercial on cable just like DirecTV or other satellite companies run their ads. And we thought we should have the right to."
