Times Square Goes Pink October 1st For National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Historic First Annual Lighting Ceremony at 6:45pm #LightTimesSquarePink
NEW YORK, Sept 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The billboards and electronic signs of New York's iconic Times Square will turn pink together for the first time on Wednesday, October 1st, to kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Culminating a day of events hosted by EBeauty.Com, a nonprofit wig exchange program for women undergoing cancer treatment, participating businesses will simultaneously showcase pink signage at sunset (6:45pm to 7:00pm). Times Square visitors are encouraged to gather by the EBeauty Pink Tent located on the Pedestrian Plaza, Broadway between 43rd and 44th, and "Get Your Pink On!" with complimentary pink wands, pink wigs and people in popping pink "opposuits" courtesy of Ricky's NYC to mark the occasion. Visitors can gather friends and share the Lighting Ceremony via #LightTimesSquarePink.

The EBeauty Community, ABC Good Morning America, the American Cancer Society, the American Italian Cancer Foundation and Ricky's NYC have lined up a full day of events starting at 7:00am on the Plaza to drive awareness of breast cancer health initiatives and support women undergoing cancer treatment. These include ABC Good Morning America's #GoPink Live on the Plaza, American Italian Cancer Foundation's Mobile Care Clinic for free screenings for qualified women, the American Cancer Society's Registrations for "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk" on October 19th, Ricky's NYC Mobile Makeovers and pink popcorn, and education of EBeauty's support programs including a 2:00pm complimentary yoga class.
Wig donations can be dropped off at 1540 Broadway for the month of October. EBeauty's #LightTimesSquarePink is supported by participating partners and by the Times Square Alliance, Mayor's Office of the City of New York, CBRE, NTENT and PR Newswire.
