T&M Associates is Now Registered as an Energy Agent, Energy Consultant and Private Aggregator with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities
MIDDLETOWN, N.J., Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- T&M Associates, a leading consulting, engineering and environmental services provider, is pleased to announce that the company has recently been registered by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as an Energy Agent, Energy Consultant and Private Aggregator.
"These certifications enable T&M to better meet the needs of our customers who are looking to improve their bottom line by securing more competitive pricing for their electric and gas service," said Gary Dahms, PE, PP, T&M's President, CEO and Chairman. "We can now provide the full-range of energy procurement services to our clients in the private and public sectors throughout New Jersey."
The New Jersey Electric Discount and Energy Competition Act of 1999 and the Government Energy Aggregation Act of 2003 provide counties, cities, municipalities, institutions and private businesses with a way to achieve significant savings on the supply of electric and natural gas service by pooling (or aggregating) their demand and leveraging a deregulated energy market. Properly registered Energy Agents, Energy Consultants and Private Aggregators, like T&M, are best positioned to help communities and organizations navigate New Jersey's deregulated energy market and secure more competitive and predictable pricing for their electric and natural gas service.
Any organization or person that assists customers in procuring energy supply must be registered with the Board of Public Utilities as an Energy Agent or Energy Consultant. The individual certifications are defined as:
- Energy Agent – An Energy Agent is registered to arrange the sale of retail electric and natural gas service between government aggregators or private aggregators and third party suppliers, but does not take title to the electric or gas sold.
- Energy Consultant - Energy Consultants are Energy Agents with the added authority to obtain customer energy usage electronic data from utility companies.
- Private Aggregator – A Private Aggregator acts on behalf or multiple end-user customers by combining the loads of these customers and negotiating the purchase of power under an aggregated contract with third party suppliers.
