Tonido FileCloud Streamlines Enterprise File Sharing With New Windows 8.1 App and Outlook Add-In
FileCloud App allows users to access, share and sync company files from Windows 8 devices Outlook integration streamlines enterprise file sharing and addresses email file size limits
AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CodeLathe, the leader in personal cloud products and services, has launched a Windows 8.1 mobile app and Microsoft Outlook add-in for Tonido FileCloud, an on-premises file storage, mobile access and sync solution for businesses and organizations. The new additions to the FileCloud ecosystem offer expanded mobile access, faster sharing and significant workflow improvements for enterprises that run on Microsoft products.
The first and only self-hosted enterprise file sharing and sync product, Tonido FileCloud lives strictly within an organization's four walls. Unlike enterprise public cloud services, which require storage and data exchange on public servers, Tonido File Cloud offers organizations true ownership of their information while providing the convenience of web-based and mobile access.
Already available on iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone devices, the FileCloud Windows 8 app extends mobile access to tablets that run Windows 8 + RT and Windows 8 + Pro. The Windows 8 app offers FileCloud's signature mobile capabilities:
- Remote File Access – Users can browse files and documents, download them to the device, edit them and re-upload them to FileCloud.
- File Management – The Windows 8 app makes it easy to create new folders, delete files and folders, and explore files from anywhere.
- Sharing – Files and documents can be shared with colleagues and business partners in one click.
- Preview – Users can preview documents and PDFs.
- Offline Access – Files can be downloaded to the device and accessed offline
- App Support – Downloaded files can be opened using other installed applications
- File Versioning – Unlimited, automatic file versioning makes collaboration effective and easy
In addition to the Windows 8 app, CodeLathe also released a FileCloud Outlook add-in that brings the convenience, accessibility and security of FileCloud to the popular email client. After a quick download and installation process, users will find the FileCloud Outlook add-in within their email composition window. The add-in offers two valuable features:
- Share from FileCloud: When users create a new message or reply to an email, they can share a file or folder stored on FileCloud. The add-in can download and attach files to the email, or create a public share and generate a link to files and folders. Public links are automatically added to the email text.
- Upload and Share: In one click, users can upload files to a specified folder in FileCloud and share them as a link or attachment. This allows users to sync and send files in one simple action.
"Our new Outlook add-on makes file sharing fast, efficient and more flexible," said Madhan Kanagavel, CEO of CodeLathe. "Outlook users in large organizations often run into file size limits when they try to email videos, rich PowerPoint presentations, high quality photos and other large files. Our Outlook add-in allows them to overcome this issue by simply sharing a link to a folder or file in FileCloud."
While most cloud storage solutions require users to share files and folders from the storage website, the FileCloud Outlook add-in keeps communications and file sharing in one place. The option to email links to files and folders also ensures that the recipient will have access to the most up-to-date, synced files.
"Overall, our Windows 8 app and integration with Outlook brings FileCloud into evolving mobile and desktop workflows," said Anis Abdul, CTO of CodeLathe. "Secure, on-demand access to information is at the core of FileCloud and these new additions. For large organizations that share a lot files internally and externally, these tools promise to keep organizations and their partners in sync."
