Top Fort Worth School Hosting Congresswoman Kay Granger as Keynote Speaker

'Issues In Education and Importance of Charter Schools'

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Harmony Science Academy-Fort Worth is an open enrollment K-12 public charter school -- one of 25 schools opened by Cosmos Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Houston, TX. Its only been open four years, but in that time this school has achieved exemplary status and won prestigious science and math competitions across the state. The school has also been selected as the best middle school in Tarrant County by Children at Risk, a Houston based nonprofit organization, and won the Martha Hickey Best School Award from Fort Worth Regional Science Fair.

Harmony Science Academy is organizing monthly leadership luncheons and inviting leaders to promote leadership and supportive relationships among the community. Harmony Science Academy-Fort Worth will host its Second Leadership Luncheon with Congresswoman Kay Granger on Monday, April 5th, 2010 at Fort Worth Campus. Topic of the second luncheon is "Issues in Education and Importance of Charter Schools". Congresswoman Kay Granger will discuss the general issues in education and how charter schools can help address these issues. This luncheon is open to all businesses, academic communities and HSA Parents.

Kay Granger is the Congresswoman for the 12th District of Texas. She is the only Republican woman from Texas to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Before coming to Congress, Granger served three terms as the Mayor of Fort Worth, leading her city to win the coveted All America City Award and cut crime by 49 percent in four years. Granger owned and operated a successful insurance agency for over 20 years. She is a former high school teacher at Richland High School where she taught journalism and English.
