Tri-State Petroleum Mourns Loss of Founder Edward J. Coyne, Sr.

WHEELING, W.Va., July 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tri-State Petroleum Corporation, a family-owned convenience store operator and wholesale distributor of motor fuels in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, is mourning the loss of its founder, Edward J. Coyne, Sr., who died on July 7, 2013 at the age of 83.

Mr. Coyne founded Tri-State Petroleum in 1974 as a wholesale distributor of fuel products.  Today, the company operates convenience stores and services Marathon and BP branded accounts and commercial and industrial accounts in three states.  Coyne served as the president and chairman of Tri-State Petroleum Corporation until his retirement in 2005.  He then served as chairman emeritus during his retirement.

During his lifetime, Coyne also served on the board of directors for the Linsly School, Wheeling Hospital, First National Bank and Wheeling Jesuit College. 

Coyne is survived by his five children and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held by Bishop Michael Bransfield and Rev. Jeremiah McSweeney at St. Michaels Parish in Wheeling where Mr. Coyne was a member.
