Tribeca Flashpoint Academy Launches Fast Track Degree Program
CHICAGO, Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's premier private media arts educator Tribeca Flashpoint Academy has launched a fast track for students seeking a degree in graphic design and visual communication.
TFA's Design + Visual Communication Associate Degree Program is an accelerated, 2-year curriculum providing students mastery of essential graphic design skills and the professional savviness to compete in the media arts fields.
The Design + Visual Communication program focuses on marketing, packaging, and brand design as well as social media and motion graphics. Students are equipped with professional graphic design skills in year one so they may take on a graphic designer role in year two, collaborating with outside clients or with fellow students to provide design expertise on a variety of interdisciplinary projects.
"It is a perfect wrap-around to our other disciplines in that there isn't a project that doesn't include some degree of marketing materials, package design, title design, or is some way incorporating a designer into the project," explains EVP of Academic Affairs and Academic Dean Paula M. Froehle.
The program trains students in industry-standard tools and techniques, including cutting-edge hardware and software. Partnering professionals in the field of graphic design and communications also work with students as mentors in the completion of large-scale projects in students' second year, from live concerts to short films, video games or television shows.
"Throughout the two-year program, students within the Design + Communication program will develop marketing campaigns for specific projects, create brand identities and logos for specific companies, and work collaboratively with students of other disciplines on the design aspects of their projects," Froehle said.
Students will graduate with a professional-level portfolio, resume, and understanding of the design industry landscape needed to seek out and secure career opportunities or to chart their own course as graphic design entrepreneurs.
Tribeca Flashpoint Academy was founded in 2007 and has become one of the nation's leading institutions in media arts. Its approach is based on an innovative model that develops students through real-world, hands-on client experiences. The Design + Visual Communication degree program is the academy's fifth and most recent discipline offering.
