Dec 01, 2015, 06:30 ET from Trimble

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that general contracting firm McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has selected Trimble® GCEstimator Suite as their standard for cost estimating across all building construction projects.

Trimble GCEstimator is an integrated solution that speeds the process of creating estimates for complex, deadline-intensive construction projects. GCEstimator incorporates best-of-breed software from the Trimble Buildings portfolio of Design-Build-Operate (DBO) technologies, which enable general contractors and construction managers to increase efficiency, improve responsiveness and maximize the productivity of projects.

Trimble GCEstimator provides a unified Quantity Takeoff, Cost Estimating, and Knowledge Management system for contractors working with 2D plan sets, 3D BIM models, or any combination of the two. The comprehensive approach to cost planning streamlines the estimating process to reduce administrative overhead and improves widespread adoption of company best practices in cost estimating.

"The ability to work with a single vendor that provides a solution for Takeoff and Estimating in any combination of 2D and 3D gave Trimble the competitive edge during our evaluation," said Mike Oster, vice president and CIO of McCarthy Building Companies. "With a large and distributed team, we needed to retain our own proven estimating practices while reducing the complexity of the overall solution to provide the most accurate results for our clients."

"For building contractors, a streamlined estimating process reduces response time and improves confidence when going to bid," said Steve Watt, market manager of Estimating and Cost Controls for Trimble's General Contractor/Construction Manager Division. "We're committed to transforming our customers' businesses and reducing the complexity of cost estimating is a significant step toward that goal."
