In addition to being a highly experienced, licensed professional engineer, Turner is a frequent lecturer on high-performance building design and construction issues with specific emphasis on building envelopes, mechanical systems, indoor air quality, and building commissioning. He is recently the co-inventor for the US Patented design of a high-efficiency "E-Max Hybrid™" solar/geothermal heating and cooling system. Much of his building design experience was embodied in the recently completed zero-net-energy home known as the ROSE Cottage Project, designed by The H L Turner Group Inc. and featured on the RCMZeroEnergy.com website. A ground loop geothermal version of his E-Max Hybrid™ system was incorporated into this award-winning residential project.
The ROSE Cottage Project was completed in late 2012 and is located in a rural neighborhood in the capital city of Concord, NH. In addition to being a net-zero home, this green building project features multi-generational use and aging-in-place features as part of a sustainable design that incorporates long-life cycle values. The ROSE Cottage Project was the basis for Turner Group designers winning the 2013 Marvin Architect's Challenge Showdown as well as a 2013 Bosch Green Living Award. The ROSE Cottage Project was the first single family home built as part of the private RCMZeroEnergy.com educational website initiative to promote the use of the zero-net construction through web-based contact with consumers, builders, and developers, together with its free newsletter "The Zero Net."
