UA Local 393: Iron Mechanical Not Paying Area Standard Wages at Silvery Towers High-Rise Project Subsidized by City of San Jose
Iron Mechanical previously engaged in wage-theft at other job sites
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Construction trades workers will be conducting an area standard picket over Iron Mechanicals' failure to pay area standard wages at the Silvery Towers hi-rise construction site in downtown San Jose. Iron Mechanical has a well-documented history of not treating its workers fairly and has refused to pay overtime for work performed and not provided meal and rest breaks to its workers on other job sites.
The Silvery Towers hi-rise development project took advantage of significant tax and fee breaks provided by the City of San Jose without any oversight or conditions on how workers should be treated. The City of San Jose should not be in the business of subsidizing businesses that take advantage of workers by not paying them area standard wages.
