SAN FRANCISCO, March 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Tech's InformationWeek Conference will explore what every CIO and IT organization needs to know about the next wave of business technology during two days of education and knowledge-sharing on digital business best practices. Aimed at C-level and senior IT executives, the event will take place in conjunction with Interop Las Vegas, March 31-April 1, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

Under the conference's theme of "Goodbye IT, Hello Digital Business," the event will feature discussions and presentations from CIOs and other leading technology visionaries, including:

  • Dan Drawbaugh, Senior VP and CIO, UPMC, and Rebecca Kaul, President, UPMC Technology Development Center, will discuss how the hospital network and insurer is not only using digital technologies to improve patient care and lower costs, but also to generate new revenue streams.
  • General Motors CIO Randy Mott will share valuable lessons learned from GM's unprecedented IT transformation plan, which included bringing most of the billions of dollars of work done by the automaker's IT outsourcers in-house, as the company moved from 90% outsourcing to only 10%.
  • Loretta Early, CIO, University of Oklahoma, and Mike Meadows, CTO, Eli Lilly, will showcase how their organizations are building closer ties with customers by using the latest digital technologies in unconventional ways.
  • NFL CIO Michelle McKenna-Doyle will discuss the NFL's aggressive digital strategy in a range of on-the-field and off-the-field areas, from the evolving game to the Internet of things.
  • Bryson Koehler, Executive VP and CIO, The Weather Company, and Andrew Robbins, CEO, Paytronix, will discuss when to create innovative big data decision-making applications and when to stick with conventional technologies.

In addition, the event will feature the InformationWeek Elite 100 awards ceremony and gala, which honors the most innovative U.S.-based users of business technology.

"Digital business is where big data analytics, mobile, social, marketing automation, cloud computing, and the app economy come together to help companies bring new products and services to market and get closer to their customers," said Rob Preston, Editor In Chief, InformationWeek. "It's very exciting to be in the middle of this digital revolution. We're seeing new titles, new responsibilities, new business models as well as major shifts in technology spending.  We are looking forward to exploring these initiatives in greater detail at the conference."
