Ugandan President Lauds Equatorial Guinea's Progress

MALABO, Equatorial Guinea, Feb. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Equatorial Guinea under the leadership of President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has experienced significant progress due to the proper utilization of oil revenues, including the investment in human resource and electricity development, according to Uganda's president, Yoweri Museveni. President Museveni made the remarks during a recent visit by President Obiang to Uganda.

"President Obiang has shown exemplary leadership for providing free primary, secondary and university education using oil resources," said President Museveni. "Investing in infrastructure is important and once dealt with, the rest will be simple."

President Museveni noted that Equatorial Guinea was on the right path by dealing with key areas, including electricity and human resource development, which will attract industries to their country.

During his official visit, President Obiang and President Museveni highlighted the two nations' commitment to share experiences in various fields, including oil exploration and resource management. Equatorial Guinea already has an oil training center similar to the one Uganda recently established.

About Equatorial Guinea

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea (Republica de Guinea Ecuatorial) is the only Spanish-speaking country in Africa, and one of the smallest nations on the continent. In the late-1990s, American companies helped discover the country's oil and natural gas resources, which only within the last five years began contributing to the global energy supply. Equatorial Guinea is now working to serve as a pillar of stability and security in its region of West Central Africa. The country hosted the 2011 Summit of the African Union.
