UnaliWear's Wearable For Seniors Extends Independence With Advanced Technology

AUSTIN, Texas, March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- UnaliWear announces the market preview of its first wearable technology that provides advanced support for seniors that guards against wandering and provides support for falls and medication reminders.

Kanega's technology helps prevent the wearer from getting lost while driving or walking. It also makes a connection with pharmacies to automatically bring medication updates into the watch nightly. 

It features a continuous welfare check and fall detection. During an accident or medical emergency that leaves the wearer unable to move or speak, the watch notifies the monitoring operators for help.

Booth designed the watch after her active mother turned 80. Her mother did not want to wear an assistive device that was ugly, stigmatizing and kept her tethered to her home. Her mother is also stylish so the watch is discreet and classically designed. It can also be worn with customizable wristbands and display interfaces.

The UnaliWear Kanega watch is derived from "Unalii," the Cherokee word for "friend," and "Kanega," for "speak." The watch is a friend that travels with and speaks to you.
