Unbelievable Methods With Which Dolphins are Being Killed

BIETIGHEIM-BISSINGEN, Germany, February 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Pictures from the annual slaughter of dolphins in Taiji, Japan have been circulating the globe for years. One of the high points was the Oscar- winning documentary, "The Cove," released about one year ago, which covered the dolphin capturing in Taiji. The film caused an international stir, but the initial hope that the dolphin killings would cease following the film would not come to fruition.

Now the truth is coming to light and the unbelievable methods with which the dolphins are being killed. Since the film, the dolphin catchers have tried everything to prevent more documentaries from being filmed. They work strictly in secrecy. They pitch a new, bloodless and allegedly humane killing method, which is designed to combat global criticism of the annual dolphin killings.

This was disproved in January of 2011. The current brutality of the dolphin killings in Taiji has been documented and the dolphin catchers' well-kept secret has been unmasked - the killing method. The live dolphins lying in the water are stabbed in the back of the head with a metal pole and the wound is then closed with a wooden stick in order to prevent the blood from spilling out and colouring the water in the slaughter cove red. The main purpose of this method is to give the impression that the dolphins are being killed bloodlessly and therefore according to humane standards.

However, the video recordings captured first-hand confirm the worst fears. Contrary to the dolphin catchers' claims, the dolphins do not die within a few seconds. The documentary exposes the allegedly humane killing method as a truly cruel procedure with the goal of deceiving the public.
