HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., June 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Improved power generation has been a huge government focus for the past few years, and Komax is meeting the needs of more power companies than ever with their Desuperheater technology.
A Closer Look at What Komax Brings to the Table
Superheat has been part of the power generation process for decades, but the problem has often been removing it so predictable condensation can occur. The Komax Desuperheater mixer uses very different technology then conventional desuperheaters.
The Komax desuperheater offers an Equalizer mixing module that changes the game. It uses a low-pressure water injection spray nozzle to better combine the steam and water, which offers more precise results reducing the superheat to the correct value required for the mixture.
"We've developed a desuperheater that not only offers a higher level of precision, but it also eliminates the needs for extensive downstream pipe lay length because cooling happens almost immediately eliminating thermal fatigue. The Komax Desuperheater offers better safety ratings, less wear, and far less downtime. It's idea for today's power generation needs," said Nolan Smith/Sr. Applications Specialist.
Unlike other options on the market, the Komax Desuperheater has six fixed mixing elements. Once the superheated steam comes into the Equalizer™ module and is combined with the injected cooling product, it is then divided and mixed by the elements in each of the six holes. Multiple impingement mixing zones develop at the exit, completing the three-stage contacting process
This unique option also has no moving parts, which means maintenance is never an issue. That's fortunate for today's power generation companies, as leaner is always better in this economy.
A Big Step Forward
Komax has long been involved in the power generation industry, the desuperheater is also used in other industrial, food/beverage, chemical, LNG, pulp/paper and well, anywhere you have superheated steam. Technology like the Komax Desuperheater means Komax will continue to be part of all industries in the years to come.
