DUBLIN, October 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "US Product Portfolio for Medical Imaging Devices 2016 - MedFolio" report to their offering.
The full report suite on the U.S. market for medical imaging devices includes X-Ray imaging, MRI, breast imaging, CT imaging, ultrasound equipment, nuclear medicine imaging, and contrast agents and injectors. There are few types of imaging equipment that are in high demand.
The market for medical imaging equipment includes X-rays, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine, ultrasound imaging systems as well as contrast agents and injectors. The market had experienced a notable slowdown in the recent past during the periods of 2007 to 2009 due to the effects of the deficit reduction act (DRA), as well as from 2008 to 2009 during the global economic recession.
The DRA had changed reimbursement for imaging procedures, dampening the demand for new equipment purchases, and the recession saw major declines in hospital budgets and spending. The market has since recovered and will continue growing steadily over the forecast period. Despite declining prices across the board, growth will be driven by the development of new imaging technologies as well as the aging population who typically require an above-average number of imaging procedures.
Newer modalities such as intraoperative MRIs, breast specific gamma imaging and positron emission mammography scanners have not been on the market for an extended period of time, and there are many facilities that have not purchased one.
Other modalities such as CT scanners and X-ray systems have been available for many years and most healthcare facilities that require a system already own one and would only purchase a new CT scanner or X-ray system to replace an older system.
