DUBLIN, October 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "US Market Report for X-Ray Imaging 2016 - MedCore" report to their offering.
The U.S. market for X-ray systems includes analog, computed radiography (CR), digital radiography (DR), fluoroscopy and cardiovascular X-ray systems. DR systems will continue to replace CR systems over the forecast period, while analog systems have almost completely disappeared from the market.
In 2015, digital radiography X-rays were the largest segment, due to their increasing prevalence and popularity; many healthcare facilities prefer digital systems for their increased efficiency and image quality. While analog systems will continue to be sold at nominal levels over the forecast period, they will experience a rapid decline, almost disappearing from the market completely.
Healthcare facilities are no longer purchasing analog systems. Even computed radiography is being gradually phased out due to rapid technological advancements in digital radiography. Digital systems offer faster scan times and produce digital images that are much easier to store than film-based images.
The aging population will drive the cardiovascular X-ray segment, as this demographic is more likely to be diagnosed with conditions that require cardiac X-rays. Furthermore, despite lower unit sales of cardiovascular X-rays, this segment will maintain a sizeable share of the total market due to its higher ASP.
