RICHARDSON, Texas, Feb. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The University of Texas at Dallas has earned recognition as one of the best values among the nation's public colleges by The Princeton Review.

The list includes 75 public and 75 private colleges and universities and was released Tuesday in the book The Best Value Colleges: 2013 Edition. The book features profiles of each of the 150 institutions named.

According to the list, UT Dallas is one of only four public universities in Texas to be named among the best values, along with The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University and the University of Houston.

"It's always gratifying to see UT Dallas mentioned as one of the country's best values in higher education," said Dr. David E. Daniel, president of UT Dallas. "Our faculty and staff work very hard to deliver a quality education to our students, and we are mindful of providing the best value to them and the citizens of the state of Texas."

In its profile of UT Dallas, The Princeton Review book's editors praise the school for its dedication to rewarding academic performance with financial support. In addition, students polled noted UT Dallas' affordability, academic integrity and high dedication among professors.

The Princeton Review looked at several factors in determining the list including academics, cost and financial aid. The company chose the top 150 schools from a list of 650 public and private institutions.

The survey ranked the top 10 in both public and private institutions, and the remaining schools were unranked and noted as best values. Rice University was the sole private institution in Texas named to the list.

"This is a welcome recognition of efforts made by our students, our alumni and our dedicated team of faculty and staff," Dr. Daniel said. "We also thank the many people who support our efforts including the state's elected officials, local officials and the UT System's Board of Regents."
