US-based Gates Group Makes Charity Donations in Changzhou, China
CHANGZHOU, China, March 11 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Mr. Humberto, the general manager of Gates Fluid Power Technologies (Changzhou) Co., Ltd., a company which is invested in by the Gates Group from the US, recently made a donation of RMB110,000 in support of the poor. Part of this donation will go towards the Weekend Care column of the Changzhou Evening News, and the remaining part of the donation will go towards the Home for the Aged at Xinqiao Town in the Changzhou Hi-Tech District, Eastern China's Jiangsu province.
The Denver-based Gates Group is one of the largest manufacturers of industrial and automotive transmission belts, tubes and related products in the world. The Gates (Changzhou) company is the Group's first metal laminated composite material and product plant in China, and it is a foreign investment project encouraged by the Chinese government. The project was launched in the Changzhou National High-Tech District(CND) in June 2008 with a total investment of USD90 million, and it went into pilot production in November 2009.
Early this year, the Gates (Changzhou) company received the 2009 Investment Award for Major Projects, which came with a RMB100,000 reward, in the CND. Mr. Humberto, general manager of the company, proposed that the company give back to society as the local government had been most generous in supporting and assisting the company. Mr. Humberto decided that the RMB100,000 should be donated to local charitable causes in aid of the needy in the community. Upon deliberation, the company decided to donate it to the Home for the Aged at Xinqiao Town. The Home was built in the 1980s and currently has 25 residents.
Recently, the government of Xinqiao Town awarded the Gates (Changzhou) company with another RMB10,000 in the form of the Investment Award for Major Projects, and Mr. Humberto again chose to donate it. When he learned that the Weekend Care column of the Changzhou Evening News was helping the poor and underprivileged in the Xinglong Community in Xinqiao Town fulfill their wishes, he promptly decided to donate the RMB10,000 to Weekend Care so that it could help underprivileged families realize their dreams.
