WHAT: National media conference call to brief reporters on this week's United Nations General Assembly and to reject unilateral Palestinian moves that seek to demonize and destroy the state of Israel. The speakers will also discuss why they object to the use of the United Nations to promote an anti-American, anti-Israel agenda and the misuse of U.S. taxpayers' dollars (approx. $8 billion annually) to pay for activities designed to undermine the democratic state of Israel - America's strongest ally in the Middle East.
WHY: The Hudson Institute and Touro College are leading the effort to reveal the moral, financial and national security perils associated with supporting highly-controversial declarations at the U.N. On Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, they will host an all-day conference about the perils of global intolerance at the United Nations featuring leading foreign policy experts, intellectuals, human rights advocates and key government officials. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel in New York. (Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will address the United Nations on the same day/same time.)
ABOUT: The Touro College Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust aims to understand, explore and evaluate contemporary mechanisms for protecting human rights and the rule of law in view of the lessons of the Holocaust and its aftermath. http://www.touro.edu/ihrh
